The Sun

Pic 1: Original

Pic 2 : Inverted in Photoshop

In the midst of rushing assignments I decided to draw.
Knowing well enough that if I did not draw what was going through my brain it will not leave me alone until I do so.

Happy Chinese New Year 2013!!

Chinese New Year's just round the corner.
Instead of my usual style of black and white and silver, I made this!
It has a more Chinese New Year feel to it.
It's simple.

Colours used :
Red - Symbolises good fortune and joy.
Yellow Gold - Signifies neutrality and Good luck

2 - Year of the snake. Dark Red associated with shades of Gold. Showing elegance and fierce at the    same time.

0 - The Chinese characters in the coin roughly means "Money and Treasures will be Plentiful".
      招 (zhao) - Attract
財 (cai) - Wealth or Money
     進 (jin) - Come In
     寶 (bao) - Treasure

1 - Chinese New Year Firecracker福 (Foo) means wealth.

3 - Paper Cutting Design - The Carp Fish
The Chinese character for Carp is pronounced the same for the words "profits" & "strength".
Also symbolises for an abundance of children because it produces many eggs.
A Pair of carp symbolises a harmonious marriage.

Welcome to heaven

The Orbit Lovesit with Canopy from Dedon.
My favourite piece of furniture out of the whole furniture shop.
It's comfortable, provides shade, just lovely.
I think this is how they should advertise it though it's a bit too plain.

Happy Birthday 2012,Dad!

31st December, My dad's unique birthdate.
My post is a day late but it's something worth posting.

So, one of the biggest waves that my dad was really into in 2012 was the Gangnam Style Dance.
I decided to use my skills that I've learnt during semester 1 to create a birthday gift for him.

One of them was using Adobe Illustrator to trace the faces using pentool. I learnt this for our typography class.
So I created the face for my dad and his good friends. Standardised the body size. And had their shirts in different colours to make it more colourful.

Having them stand in empty space looked pretty empty. I wanted it to look cuter.
My dad has a number of wine collections so I decided to incorporate the wines in this gift.
I took pictures of only the top part of the bottle which had their logos on it.
I made them standing each on a bottle.
Having the labels of the bottle matching their shirt colours.
Just in case people couldn't recognised the bottles I placed red wine glasses behind.

As for the title, Leng-Zai means handsome in cantonese.

I e-mailed this to my dad and he thought it was an e-card. =.=
(I was like..WHAT?!?! I made this!!!!!)
He then sends it to his friends in the artwork.
And they asked what APP did I use to make this.
And I said a mouse an a laptop.

(I MADE THIS!!! it's not done by apps...why would I use the shortcut way to give my dad a birthday present?)
